The next installment of my characters I adore series: Rosaline Hayalet. I know y’all are like: duh, here’s a Rach character. And honestly, I was going to hold off on any of Rach’s characters until the end; however, writing this was itching at the back of my skull.
Rosaline has been a favourite of mine since BFOI, and she is through whom I met Rach, and so she holds a special place in my heart. More on subject, she is a character who fascinated me and caught my attention with her story as it evolved through the first year. She went from a character that seemed merely like a nice girl to someone deeply troubled and fascinating.
Like Stephanie Brown, she is a creation of her environment and personality.
Rosaline is a ghost trainer—good and simple right?
She quite literally becomes haunted by the things she is supposed to train, and it is deeply distressing to watch Rach pull her through that story. This is a girl who is for all intents and purposes a very typical teenager—she has the ups and downs of adolescence, the anger and the joy. She enjoys being a bit rebellious. But it is all turned upside down on its head when the one thing she cares about, her best friend in the world, Marty, turns on her. Her ghost, her first ghost, becomes her worst enemy and begins to drain her.
She becomes more secretive, drawn, and begins to self-destruct. She is not whining all over the place, but she is slowly disintegrating under the weight of not being able to take care of her own problems, wanting to, and not knowing exactly how to reach out for help. She wants to, but she doesn’t. She struggles with independence and former friendships lost. The once good thing has become toxic in her life, and it is not a simple clean up.
Still, she manages a cracked smile and attempts to keep going as if everything will be fine on some level. Her humour is dark, and she is still, at heart, only a young woman who doesn’t have all of the answers. Rach balances the darkness of her situation well and does not allow it to become sentimental or disingenuous.
Rosaline is one of the characters that made me want to flesh out my OCT characters more, where before her I had merely seen them as a joking way to pass the time.
Rach is an inspiration to me. She is subtle and complex, and her writing is not full of pathos or sentiment, but she draws it out of the reader through the simplicity and straight-forwardness of the scenes she presents. Ahhh. Alright, there y’all go. Rosaline, the haunted trainer.

I stand by the fact that Ros’ hair makes everything better. That or I should really be sleeping this bug off, and not drawing it off.

La influenced me to make it a character select screen. Names of some attack names have been lifted from Skullgirls/MvC3 because at 3AM my brain shuts down.
I wanna do this for my SXL characters, but I’m lazy, so I might just copy and paste the app art. I wish I’d put more effort into the actual art here :’D

Dad’s hacked half the cabling off, put a new USB port on the end, so now I don’t need to pinch the wire, but we can’t change the cabling going into the tablet which is also duff. This bitch is hanging on :’D
